Andy Warhol: The Day the Factory Died
A book by Christophe von Hohenberg

In collaboration with publishers Empire Editions we are delighted to present the book Andy Warhol: The Day the Factory Died on our Stand G12 at The London Art Fair prior to its general release in the UK later this year.

Never-before published photos by celebrity photographer Christophe von Hohenberg of pop artist Andy Warhol’s memorial service at New York’s Saint Patrick’s Cathedral on April 1, 1987.

Released on the eve of the 20th anniversary of the Pop Master’s death, this 176-page book features a cavalcade of celebrities from the worlds of Hollywood, Fashion, Pop Music, International Society and Art.

Von Hohenberg was on assignment from Vanity Fair magazine that day and took over two hundred photos of the famous and infamous who attended the packed Cathedral. The best are gathered in this novel book.

The imaginatively-designed book, by Daniel Stark of Stark Design in New York City, features a foreword by art writer Anthony Haden-Guest on Warhol’s expanding and still controversial legacy.

The book features over 45 letters from many of the notable figures present that day as testimony to the influence Warhol had on their own lives and times and concludes with rarely-seen photos of the actual burial ceremony in Warhol’s native Pittsburgh and a never-before published 1978 photo of Andy Warhol.
